National Assembly Election: ‘No deal’ in Coalition talks

Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang the Chairperson of the ongoing talks amongst members of ‘Gambia`s 2016 Coalition’ of political parties for the country`s upcoming National Assembly election said “no deal has been reached so far.”

Following a long day of today`s talks at the Kairaba Beach Hotel party leaders came out without making a deal. However, according to Madam Tambajang, “consultation is still ongoing”, whether to contest under a coalition ticket or not.


She said they will brief President Barrow on Sunday on the outcome of their today`s meeting, thereafter a press conference will be held to update Coalition supporters.

Meanwhile President Adama Barrow will be flying to Dakar tomorrow for a three day official visit. And, he is expected to return  toBanjul on Sunday.

Barrow and the Senegalese President Macky Sall are expected to address a press conference at mid day on Thursday.

Among the agendas expected to be discussed by the two leaders includes the Trans-Gambia Bridge ,as well as security issues in the Southern Senegalese region of Casamance that has been consume in conflict for about three decades now.
